Police Provide More Information on Vehicle Pursuit

"Christopher Lamont Stimpson, 42, faces four charges after leading police on a short pursuit last night that ended when his vehicle was struck by a patrol car.
The pursuit began at approximately 8 pm on June 2nd after Stimpson fled from police who had witnessed an alleged narcotics violation.  Two vice/narcotics detectives in unmarked vehicles attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Stimpson in the vicinity of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Dorothy Brown Street.
Stimpson failed to heed the emergency equipment, initiating a pursuit. A patrol officer in a marked vehicle replaced one of the vice/narcotics officers. As the fleeing subject travelled on Holts Chapel Road, the detective in the unmarked vehicle attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique to terminate the pursuit.
Stimpson managed to maneuver away from the detective, entered the front yard at 522 Franklin Boulevard, and then drove his vehicle towards both police cars, striking both of them. One of the officers used his vehicle to disrupt Stimpson's assault.
Two officers and Stimpson sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. They were all treated and released from local hospitals.

Stimpson is currently confined in the Greensboro Jail Central on a $120,000 secured bond. He is charged with two counts of Assault on a Government Official with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Fleeing to Elude to Avoid Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana up to a ½ Ounce."
