"Officers with the
Winston Salem Police Department responded to a call of an unconscious child at
the pool in Salem Crest Apartments. On
arrival officers discovered a 9 year old male child who was unresponsive and
not breathing. CPR was performed by
Officers on the scene as well as civilian personnel. Fire and EMS responded and the child was
transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he is being treated at
this time.
Investigation revealed the child was observed not moving and
underwater in the pool. He was pulled
out by a passerby who heard someone calling for help. The child was apparently in the pool without
adult supervision at the time of the incident.
The child’s parents have been notified and responded. The child remains in serious condition at
Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Investigation into this matter continues. No additional information is available at
this time."
