Cinema Under the Stars Returns to Reynolda House Aug. 1 with ‘Strange Encounters’ Film Series

"WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 16, 2014) – Reynolda House Museum of American Art’s popular outdoor film series returns Aug. 1 with the 1975 summer blockbuster “Jaws.” 

The ninth annual Cinema Under the Stars will be held the first four Fridays in August and is themed “Strange Encounters” for the variety of encounters in city, surf and outer space found in the films. Gates open at 8 p.m. each night, and films will be shown on the front lawn at 9 p.m. In case of rain, films will be shown in the Babcock Auditorium. Filmgoers are encouraged to arrive early and picnic on the lawn; beer and wine will be available for purchase – no outside alcohol is permitted. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
Admission is $5 per person, cash or advance purchase only. The museum is also offering two new ticketing options this year: a season pass that includes all four films for the price of three ($15), and a $20 per car option. All tickets are available for advance purchase online at reynoldahouse.org.

Aug. 8 – “Cabaret” – The museum invites filmgoers to dress in cabaret-inspired attire for this film, which is funded through a grant from The Adam Foundation.
Aug. 15 – “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”
Aug. 22 – “An American in Paris”
