Finch Field to host 40 year-old collegiate baseball series between USA and Japan

"HiToms of the Coastal Plain League will host an international contest as the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team faces the Japanese Collegiate All-Stars on Sunday, July 6.  The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the home ballpark of the HiToms, Finch Field.

“We’re beyond excited to offer this unique event to the baseball fans in our community,” said Nick Gaski, HiToms GM. This is the first international baseball game in High Point/Thomasville history.

What better way to celebrate the Independence Day holiday and enjoy a collegiate game with USA facing off Japan? Bring the entire family because this is a game you don’t want to miss! Come out prior to the game on July 6, and watch the teams kick off practicing for the big game. The teams will be available for autographs and picture-taking opportunities.

“The HiToms organization is truly honored to have such a significantly important international game played in the greater High Point area,” said HiToms President Greg Suire. “Through its 75-plus years, Finch Field has played host to numerous historic baseball moments and July 6 will prove to be one of the most significant events in its history”.
