Triad Park: New Amphitheater and Disc Golf Course Opening March 28th

"Forsyth and Guilford counties are proud to announce the newest additions to Triad Park! On March 28, 2015 the new amphitheater, disc golf course and Shelter 7 will be open to the public. Specifically, the disc golf course will officially open at 9AM – with the first 25 players receiving a free disc and the next 25 players receiving a free golf towel.

Triad’s Amphitheater is perfect for community and private events including but not limited to concerts, festivals, theatrical performances, athletic competitions and corporate events. It is a striking 4,300 square foot structure of both wood and stone that will accommodate up to 3,000 people. There is a 400-person concrete seating plaza in front of the sage and approximately three acres of sloped grass seating.

The 18-hole disc golf course has two tee locations per whole – long and short. The long (blue) tees play at 7,171 feet of total distance and the short (red) tees play at 5,010 feet of total distance. The shortest hole is #7, playing 165 feet from the short tees and the longest hole is #18, playing 519 feet from the long tees – making the course enjoyable and challenging for players of all skill levels. A small shelter is located near the first tees.

A large shelter, Shelter 7, has been added to the Park as well. It is similar to nearby Shelter 6 and at 4,500 square feet works well for 300 people. A new air-conditioned/heated restroom is located adjacent to Shelter 7.

To support these new facilities, 163 additional parking spaces have been added including 15 accessible spaces.

The Amphitheater, Shelter 7 and the small shelter near the disc golf start were all designed by Woolpert, Inc. Woolpert also subcontracted Russell Schwarz with Innova Champion Discs East Coast to design the disc golf course. Hodgin Construction Company was the general contractor.
