Dr. Melissa Nixon will serve as a member
on the PDK International Board of Directors
"Greensboro, N.C. – Dr. Melissa Nixon, director of Title I for Guilford County Schools, is taking on an international role in education. She was recently appointed to the Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) International Board of Directors. PDK is a professional association designed to cultivate great educators for tomorrow while ensuring high-quality education today.
Nixon is the current president of North Carolina’s PDK Chapter and was a 2013 PDK Emerging Leader. Along with other North Carolina-based PDK Emerging Leaders, Nixon co-founded EdCamp Elon, a professional development event for educators across the state of North Carolina. She is also a member of the planning team for North Carolina’s upcoming EdCamp Leadership in July at the Friday Institute in Raleigh.
As a member of the international board, Nixon will represent members from the southern U.S. as well as Panama, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
“I’m humbled and honored to be able to serve our state and region as a member of the PDK International Board of Directors,” says Nixon. “I hope that being at the table I’ll be able to offer a unique perspective to education’s changing landscape.”
Nixon’s term begins July 1, 2015."
