High School teaching assistant charged with Indecent Liberties

"On June 1, 2015, school officials with Parkland High school contacted the “School Resource Officer” about some possible inappropriate behavior involving an assistant teacher (Darren Nelson). Nelson, a 34-year-old black male, resides at 2418 Broomley Park Dr., in Winston-Salem. He was reportedly having inappropriate contact with a 15 year old female student at the school.

The “School Resource Officer” notified Detectives who immediately assumed the investigation. Detectives followed up on this report and found that Mr. Nelson allegedly groped the female student at some point while they were alone on campus. Based on the information gathered thus far, Mr. Nelson was charged with:

·      Taking Indecent Liberties with a Student by a Teacher (one count),

·      Sexual Battery ( one count)

On June 9, 2015 Mr. Nelson was arrested without incident at his home. He was subsequently placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $3,000.00 bond. His first appearance is set for July 2, 2015."
