Geeksboro to host Opening Gala for Wes Anderson Art Show

"GREENSBORO, NC When Geeksboro invited artists from across the region to submit artwork for a show inspired by the films of Wes Anderson, they had no idea that they would receive more than 100 individual pieces.

Now the public will get their first chance to see all of the fantastic artwork when Geeksboro hosts the opening gala for Find Something You Love: A Wes Anderson Themed Art Show from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, September 12th.

The art show will feature a Wes Anderson movie character costume contest and music from Anderson’s films. Additionally, there will be an exclusive meet and greet with professional North Carolina artist Natalie Andrewson, who will be signing special prints she created exclusively for Geeksboro.

“It’s totally ridiculous and awesome,” says Kristin Mehaffey, Junior Events Coordinator at Geeksboro, in reference to both the quantity and quality of submissions.

Submitted by artists as far away as Philadelphia and Atlanta, the artwork features characters, scenes, props and motifs from Anderson’s films, which include “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Rushmore.”
