34th Annual Seagrove Pottery Festival Sponsored by The Seagrove Area Pottery Center

"Seagrove, NC— The Seagrove Area Pottery Center; formerly known as the Museum of NC Traditional Pottery, is proud to present this year’s 34th Annual Seagrove Pottery Festival! The Festival will include booths filled with pottery and various traditional crafts, both of which have helped to make the Festival one of the best places for meeting the potters and craftsmen while shopping.

The event is held at the Seagrove Elementary School located at 528 Old Plank Road in Seagrove and takes place Nov. 21 & 22, 2015, from 9am-5pm both days. Admission is $5.00 per person each day. Members of the Museum, as well as children under 12 with a paying adult, will be admitted free.

The Seagrove Area Pottery Center President Phil Morgan said, “This amazing event draws pottery lovers from all over the world, as this is the one time of the year that customers can travel to Seagrove and see many of the potters in one location.” There are no back roads to travel, no getting lost, and no time constraints on trying to pick which studios to visit!

The Festival focuses on the pottery and craft heritage of this region. Educational activities for children and adults alike are available. Potters will be demonstrating while handcrafted items from a blacksmith, basket makers, leather crafts, woodcarvers and weavers will also be available for purchase. Percheron Draft Horses will be stabled near the parking lot. The patrons will also be able to purchase and glaze a pot with their favorite color and then watch as it comes out of the Raku kiln, ready to take home as a personal souvenir of the Festival.

The 34th  Pottery Festival Auction will take place on Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm. This auction draws serious collectors and attracts new collectors who can place their bids on limited edition pottery, made specifically for this event. Each piece will be signed and dated. Sealed bids will be accepted until 1pm on Sunday so bidders do not have to be present to win. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Seagrove Area Pottery Center and its ongoing mission of promoting pottery tourism for the Seagrove area.
