Local Eco-friendly Startup Set to Publish First Children’s Book

"GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept.2, 2016) — Local eco-friendly startup Fluffmonger, manufacturer of hand-dyed organic plush toys, will publish its first children’s book on Dec. 9, 2016. Printing costs will be supported by a Kickstarter campaign set to begin at 10 am  Sept. 6, and it will run for 30 days.

“Keeping production local and eco-friendly is Fluffmonger’s top priority,” said Jenny Maj, founder. “I’ve tried to incorporate some of those ideals into my characters, and I’m excited to bring them to a book series.”

The Kickstarter campaign reflects how important local ties are to Fluffmonger’s mission: If the stretch goal of $15,000 is met, season extension equipment will be purchased for The Edible Schoolyard in Greensboro in order to provide more fresh food for their cooking classes and after-school program.

“Community ties are key to running a sustainable business,” Maj continued. “I’ve received a lot of support from the community here in Greensboro, and I’m glad to be in a position where I can give back.”

Falafel’s Garden, the first in the planned book series, features three Fluffmonger characters as they learn about gardening, friendship, and forgiveness.
