GREENSBORO, NC – Air Supply, one of pop music’s most enduring powerhouse touring bands, will perform at Greensboro’s White Oak Amphitheatre on Sunday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Shortly after Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met the first day of rehearsal as chorus members in a Sydney, Australia production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” in May 1975, they realized that they had many things in common including having seen The Beatles perform in concert in 1964.

           
Forty years later, the duo – which attained worldwide fame as pop/rock duo Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) with hit after hit in the early to mid-‘80s – celebrates their special anniversary while looking forward to another whirlwind slate of international appearances. 

Signed by Clive Davis to Arista Records in 1980, Air Supply scored an immediate hit with “Lost In Love,” an edited-down version of a previous Australian hit which reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song initiated a run of seven consecutive U.S. Top Fives in just over two years, including their #1 “The One That You Love” (1981). Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles.

Air Supply’s albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits have sold in excess of 40 million copies. “Lost in Love” was named Song of the Year in 1980, and, their singles have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

With the chart success in recent years of “Dance With Me” and “Faith In Love” (from their 2010 album Mumbo Jumbo), which reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and “Desert Sea Sky,” whose remix by The Wideboys hit the Hot Dance Club Play chart, Air Supply has extended their hit-making streak to four decades.

NEWSBOYS TO HEADLINE SONRISE FESTIVAL COMING TO WHITE OAK AMPHITHEATRE SATURDAY, MAY 9

"Premier Festivals announces its newest addition – SonRise Festival – at the White Oak Amphitheatre at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on Saturday, May 9. 

The Festival will include Newsboys on their “We Believe … God’s Not Dead” tour, along with Audio Adrenaline and Finding Favour.

SonRise Festival is the first annual Christian music event held at White Oak Amphitheatre.

ZZ Top bringing their rocking blues to Greensboro

"After touring and recording for the past 44 years, legendary Texas trio ZZ Top - Billy F Gibbons, Frank Beard and Dusty Hill - will bring their hard rocking blues bonanza to Greensboro’s White Oak Amphitheatre on Sunday, October 26 at 7 p.m.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will perform classic hits, ranging from “Sharp Dressed Man” to “La Grange” and “Legs” and "Tush" along with “I Gotsta Get Paid” and other new material from La Futura, their latest album with producer Rick Rubin.  "Same three guys, same three chords," sums up Billy F Gibbons, but the end result is what The New York Times has called “more or less, a perfect concert.” 

ZZ Top, formed in Houston, Texas in 1969, became a huge international touring act in the ‘70s and, astoundingly, were darlings of MTV in the ‘80s, going on to sell tens of millions of records. Their unique hybrid of dirty blues and hard rock, incorporating new sounds and technology, earned them induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 with Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones doing the honors. This summer the band will be releasing a comprehensive, greatest hits collection entitled The Baddest of ZZ Top."

The afternoon/evening event will feature an all-star line-up including Swingin’ Medallions, The Tams, Eric and the Chill Tones and Hip Pocket.
