"GREENSBORO, NC (May 18, 2014) On Friday 05/16/2014 at 2340 hours, the Greensboro Police Department was notified of a vehicle collision on the 1400 block of W. Lee Street. The collision involved serious injuries.
Upon arrival it was discovered the collision involved a scooter which was traveling west bound on W. Lee Street, operated by Mr. Nicholas Loconte, W/M/49 of Greensboro. Mr. Loconte attempted to complete a left turn in front of oncoming traffic and was struck by a 1993 Jeep Cherokee traveling east bound on W. Lee Street. The Jeep was operated by Mr. John Michael Hurd, W/M/24 of Reidsville. As a result of the collision Mr. Loconte suffered critical injuries and was transported to Moses Cone Hospital where he was pronounced dead by emergency room personnel.
The family of Mr. Nicholas Loconte was notified of his death on Sunday May 18, 2014.
The collision is currently being investigated by the Greensboro Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
It has been 30 days since the last motor vehicle fatality in Greensboro."
