"At 6:29 p.m. on 5.16.2014—Police responded to Velazquez Pawn on 3632 Spring Garden Street in reference to a robbery. Three suspects described as black-males wearing hooded sweatshirts covering their heads entered the business. One of the suspects approached the jewelry-area which is secured behind iron bars. He grabbed the gated door and began shaking same in an attempt to enter the secured area. The manager displayed a handgun—at which the time the suspects ran from the business. One suspect grabbed an I-Phone on the way out.
One of the suspects identified as 20-year old Lord Black was apprehended with the stolen I-Phone by Western Community Resource Team Officers. He was charged with Common Law Robbery, Felony Conspiracy and Larceny. The investigation is ongoing.
Western Division Patrol Officers, K9, Western CRT Officers, and CSI responded to the incident.

I AM BRANDON MAPP OLDER BROTHER TO LORD BLACK BORN FROM THE SAME MOTHER AND I AM HONESTLY SHOCK THAT HE WOULD EVEN ATTEMPT TO DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS. OUR FAMILY IS DEEPLY HURT IN HEARING THIS NEWS. HE IS UNDER A 20K BOND AND I FOR ONE CAN SPEAK FOR THIS FAMILY(20K IS TO MUCH TO BARE FOR US). THIS FAMILY IS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND WE CAN SEEM TO FIND ANY REASON FOR HIM TAKE THIS ACTION. LORD HAD NO REASON FOR THIS I BELIEVE ITS THE PEOPLE HE SURROUNDED HIS SELF WITH. HE HAD A HOME A FAMILY AND DIDN'T HAVE IT WANT FOR NOTHING AND OUR MOTHER IS HIGHLY PISSED KNOWING SHE HAS DONE EVERYTHING IN HER POWER TO KEEP HIM ON TRACK. I DON'T THINK HE WILL EVER UNDERSTAND THE BURDEN HE HAS PUT ON THIS FAMILY WE ARE ALL DEEPLY HURT BY LORDS UNNECESSARY ACTIONS.
