Fourth Street gunshot victim later dies

Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department respondedat 1:18am on Feb. 6 to the 300 block of W. 4th Street on a reported shooting. Witnesses say the incident occurred near Recreation Billiards and Bulls Tavern, two popular downtown bars.

Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Robert Hall, a 35-year-old white male, lying on the sidewalk. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Mr. Hall, of 732 Cunningham Brick Road in Lexington, NC, was transported to Baptist Hospital in critical life-threatening condition. Hall died later in the day as a result of his injuries.

 A black male, 25-30, suspect wearing an orange toboggan fled the area on foot. This is an active on-going investigation.  

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed investigative responsibility for this incident. The next of kin has been notified and the investigation is in the early stages.

This is the 1st homicide to occur in 2016, as compared to 0 homicides for the same period of time in 2015.
