Zegota concert streaming live on the net tonight
A concert by activist hardcore band Zegota and Durham experimental folk group des_ark at the Hive community center in the Glenwood neighborhood of Greensboro will stream live over the internet starting at 10 p.m. EST. That is, if technology cooperates.
Steady hand Dave Reed told me this is his first attempt. Dave Norris is operating the camera. If the live stream somehow doesn’t work, at the very least, Reed says they’ll have a video posted at the Hive’s website in a day or so. Click here to catch the action.
I just interviewed Zegota. Founded in Greensboro in 1997, they’ve been described by more than one person as “legendary.” Their guitar player, Jon Ridenour lives in Stockholm, Sweden now, so they only tour sporadically. This is the final night of an East Coast tour. It will also be the first time they’ve played in Greensboro since 2001.
I’m headed back to the Hive momentarily to collect some observations and possibly shoot some low-grade video for my Tunes story for the Jan. 9 issue of the paper.
Two other bands are playing, as well: Bellafea and Loss Prevention. Maybe I’ll see you there.
UPDATE (01/07/08; 7:54 p.m.): In case you missed the show and the live webcast, video of Zegota, des_ark and Bellafea is now posted here.

I do not except "steady hand" as my nickname Jordon, stop calling me that.
I was using "steady hand" as a job title, not as a nickname. So what do they call you at the Hive?
