A Guilford County jury found AJ Blake not guilty this afternoon of two charges of misdemeanor assault against a female. The charges stemmed from an incident at a drunken police party at the Greensboro Police Club on the night of Jan. 16.
The first alleged assault involved Lorraine Galloway, the girlfriend of Greensboro police Sgt. Craig Myrick. Galloway had accused Blake of grabbing her by the throat. The second alleged assault involved Sandra Sanchez, who is Blake's girlfriend. Galloway accused Blake of kicking Sanchez in the back, prompting her to confront the off-duty officer. Sanchez testified that her boyfriend did not assault her and has never touched her in anger.
Blake was terminated from the Greensboro Police Department after a hearing on July 17. He is appealing the decision to interim City Manager Bob Morgan.
