Jeramy Reid, a resident of the Laurel Park subdivision, filed to run for Greensboro City Council in District 1 yesterday.
Residents recently lost a legal skirmish to avoid annexation.
The process of annexing Laurel Park and other subdivisions near Mount Hope Church Road began in 2007, but council voted 7-2 in April 2008 to delay annexation for one year. Residents asked for another delay this past April, but lost in a 5-4 vote. In both votes, incumbent Dianne Bellamy-Small voted to annex the subdivisions.
Laurel Park is so far to the east of the city proper that Reid actually receives his mail through a McLeansville address.
