Evelyn Terry, the Democratic incumbent who represents Winston-Salem's Southeast Ward on the city council, leads challenger James Taylor by 3 votes after the Forsyth County Board of Elections released its early voting results at 7:38 p.m.
Terry got 16 of the 18 mail-in absentee votes, while Taylor 33 of the 55 one-stop votes. Terry, a one-term incumbent, leads Taylor 38 to 35.
