Mixed voter turnout numbers in Winston-Salem municipal runoff

The 12 precincts in Winston-Salem's Southeast Ward revealed mixed results regarding voter turnout during Tuesday's runoff between Democratic incumbent Evelyn Terry and challenger James Taylor.

At 7:15 p.m., precinct workers at Parkland High School reported only 4 voters had cast their ballot during Tuesday's runoff. That's an 83 percent decrease from the 23 vote total at Parkland during the Sept. 15 primary. However, St. Andrews United Methodist Church actually experienced an increase in voter turnout Tuesday as compared to the Sept. 15 primary resullts. St. Andrews recorded a total of 171 votes, according to unofficial estimates. That's a 6 percent increase from the Sept. 15 primary.
UPDATE: Terry leads Taylor by 2 votes with four precincts reporting at 8:09 p.m.
