Strife in Guilford conservativeland over the fact that Republican NC Senate District 27 candidate Jeff Hyde reported no expenditure reflecting a $5,000 prize payout in a raffle in his most recent campaign finance document. If the winner donated the prize money back to the campaign, was the candidate required to report it? That seems to be the question on which the controversy hinges.
If no winner was actually identified and announced, that raises another set of questions.

Dear friends, everyone please take a deep breath. Just to Clarify, I personally spoke with Adam at the state Board of Elections, before and after the raffle. After full disclosure of the sequence of events, Adam said if there is no disbursement, there is no need for any other reporting.
Marcus, if you'd like to Talk with the Board of Elections... See More. call them. If you'd like to talk with me, call me. But this speculation on a public message board doesn't seem to have much purpose other than to undermine the integrity of YOUR OWN TEAM..
Aren't we all supposed to be working together to elect honorable people that will defend the Constitution and the individual rights of citizens guaranteed by our Founding?
Shouldn't we be concerning ourselves with the 16 months double digit unemployment that is plaguing our State and threatening our prosperity?
What is your mission Marcus?
even if the person donated the $5,000 it still needs to be on campaign books
Ho much did the raffle tickets cost? What is the minimum contribution that must be reported on campaign filings?
$100 a piece and you can give up to $50 before you need to report the vital information.
Isn't this the same guy who, during a speech, made up a quote by Nancy Pelosi - and then justified it by saying that he believes it's her sentiment. Is this guy a mind reader too? Seems like he doesn't let facts get in his way.
Ronnie: Yes, it's the same Jeff Hyde who put words in Nancy Pelosi's mouth.
How is it that the un-named winner was from Gastonia but Hyde's campaign finance reports show no raffle ticket purchased by anyone from Gastonia?
Jordan, I think a better title for your story is "Conservatives question lack of raffle payout in candidates Hyde's fundraiser". There seems to be a complete lack of transparency in the way this fundraiser was held. This and Hyde's Tea Party speech really make me question his ethics and integrity.
