100% of the proceeds benefit the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership which supports the downtown community through business development, marketing and special events. Mayor Allen Joines will start the Hunt again this year and has set off the past three Scene in Winston-Salem Scavenger Hunts, which combined drew a crowd of over 600 participants who helped raised nearly $10,000.
Online registration for this year’s hunt is now open at www.sceneinwinston-salem.com for teams of two. The $20 fee per participant ($25 on the day of the event) includes a gift bag filled with special promotions from sponsors as well as admission to the after-party which includes door prizes and food and drink samples from local restaurants.
"Not only is Scene in Winston-Salem a fun-filled afternoon of entertainment with your friends, it's also a wonderful opportunity to learn about the great places in and around our downtown," says Susan Morris, Event Founder. " The Scavenger Hunt not only promotes the town that we live in but educates participants on the history of the city, as well as awareness of all the great things that downtown Winston-Salem has to offer."
Teams of two solve clues that lead them to downtown Winston-Salem destinations where racers perform tasks, have their "passport" stamped, and take pictures at downtown businesses and landmarks. Various bonus points and prizes are earned along the way, and the top three fastest teams can earn up to $100 in prize money. Hunters cross the finish line at Old Winston Social Club, where they can enjoy refreshments and vote on awards like Best Costume and Best Team Name.
