American Basketball Association announces addition of three NC teams

The American Basketball Association announced the formation of three North Carolina teams as part of their 2011 expansion. Among the three are the Trefour Cheetahs, who will be based in Winston-Salem.

The ABA will be hosting tryouts for the three teams Saturday, May 21 in Durham. They are looking for 45 players total to play in the professional league. The Cheetahs will be joined by the Carolina Cougars based in Rocky Mount and the Carolina Jaguars in the Triangle.

Dr. LeVonder Brinkley owns the Cheetahs and the Jaguars. She was not immediately available for comment.

The website listed by the ABA for the Trefour Cheetahs, www.trefourcheetahs.com, is not up yet.
