Private vendor selected to operate Greensboro farmers market

A committee appointed by Greensboro City Council has voted to recommend the nonprofit Greensboro Farmers Market Inc. to operate the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market. The committee recommended that for the first year, the private operator renew all existing vendors unless they have violated market rules. Staff is recommending that the nonprofit begin operating the farmers market on Jan. 1, 2012, according to a recent memo from Parks and Recreation Director Greg Jackson. Council is expected to vote on the recommendation on May 17.
