Billy Yow, a Guilford County politician, tells me: "Don't rule me out for that new Senate seat," referring to the proposed District 27 (map) in a Republican redistricting plan under consideration by the NC General Assembly.
Yow points out that the rural Guilford County district includes much of the same area that he currently represents on the Guilford County Commission. He has said that he does not plan to seek reelection on the commission next year.
I have previously written that Greensboro City Councilwoman Trudy Wade or former NC House Rep. Laura Wiley would have a good shot at winning election in the Republican-leaning district.
