Timothy Cook, who is running for NC District 59, called YES! Weekly to say he was endorsed by the National Rifle Association. His opponent Jon Hardister received the same rating from the pro-gun organization, while the third Republican candidate Sharon Kasica was not rated by the group.
"It’s important because I
believe in standing up to our constitutional right," Cook said of the endorsement, adding that his campaign is focused on property and gun rights. "My message is still out there and people like the sound of it."
The full list of NRA endorsements is available here, and includes other candidates such as Howard Coble, Trudy Wade and Democrat Earl Jones. Make sure to check out our elections coverage in this week's issue out today!

Your layout is a train wreck with your header graphic overlaying and hiding the top story's first few lines and link.
Timothy Cook was endorsed by the NRA,ro his opponents where not even though 1 of them did receive a favorable rating
Maybe he language wasn't clear: Cook received the only endorsement in his race, but Cook and Hardister received the same rating.
The NRA lost the questionnaire that Jon Hardister sent in. Sharon Kasica didnt respond to them. Cook received the endorsement by default. The NRA corrected themselves by giving Jon Hardister the same favorable rating, but it is their policy to never rescind endorsements. If you check other districts (district 55 and 18 for example) the NRA doesn't endorse one candidate over another in the same race if they both receive the "AQ" rating (which both Hardister and Cook received). This was obviously a mistake. Seems desperate to brag about an endorsement someone received by accident.
