Victim hospitalized in shooting at Carver High School

After Newtown, a school shooting is always cause for alarm, and parents are surely asking questions about the adequacy of security at Carver High School and other schools in Winston-Salem after news broke this afternoon about gunfire on campus.

Here's what the Winston-Salem Police Department reported at 4:05 p.m.:
At 2:26 p.m. officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported school shooting at Carver High School, 3545 Carver School Road. At this time, one victim has been transported to NC Baptist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and one suspect is in police custody. 
The police department has secured the school and the students are safe at this time. 
The police have not reported on whether the victim was a student, or whether there were additional casualties. The identity of the shooter is also unknown. Police and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools officials planned to hold a media briefing at Grace Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m.
