The city of Greensboro sent out a very short press release announcing activities on Monday, the county's teacher workday. Normally we might glance over this, but given the attention to teen violence and activities for teens in the last several months, we figured we'd share this information. Here's the press release:
Greensboro Parks and Recreation is hosting a “Hoops Day” with pick-up basketball games, food, and fun from 10 am to 2:30 pm Monday, October 28 at the Simkins Sports Pavilion, 1500 Dans Rd, located in Barber Park. The event gives teens a constructive and fun activity on a Guilford County Schools Teacher Workday. For more information on the “Hoops Day” call 336-373-4588.
The city council did not renew the 60-day teen curfew last month. Numerous community meetings with teenagers have been held — you can read more about the first two and dig into the context here.
