A fire at Import Knight Auto Repair on South Elm Street sent smoke billowing up just south of downtown Greensboro this afternoon.

The Greensboro Fire Department said a building collapse caused by the fire sent four firefighters to local hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries was unknown as of 2:15 p.m.

Fire officials describe the fire as contained, but not yet extinguished. The department received a 911 call about an active fire inside the building.

At about 2:30 p.m. about four ladder trucks were spraying water onto the blaze, and smoke continued to billow.
