Twenty Recruits to Graduate from Fire Academy

"On Thursday Feb. 27, twenty fire recruits will graduate from the Greensboro Fire Department’s (GFD) 65th Recruit Class. The ceremony begins at 10:00 am, and will be held at the Carolina Theater, 310 South Green St. 

The GFD is nationally accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, and is rated as a Class 1 Fire Department by the Insurance Services Office. The department thereby conducts a quite rigorous training program.  The graduates completed 21 weeks of intense physical and practical exercises, and were required to successfully pass numerous written examinations.  Each individual is now certified as a North Carolina State Firefighter.
               
The graduates will be assigned to one of 24 fire stations across the city, and must serve a six-month probationary status. Upon completion of the probationary period, the entire class will to return to the academy, and must successfully complete further written and practical examinations in order to maintain employment with the Greensboro Fire Department.  The graduates of the 64th Recruit Class are as follows:
