New Website Serves Soldiers in Their Hour of Greatest Need.

Greensboro's Red Letter Marketing helps launch site for Stop Soldier Suicide.

"Stop Soldier Suicide, a national 501(c)3 organization serving veterans and active-duty service members, has launched a newly designed website, www.stopsoldiersuicide.org. The site, which was developed in conjunction with Red Letter Marketing, advances the mission of Stop Soldier Suicide, the first civilian not-for-profit organization dedicated to preventing suicide in active-duty armed forces personnel and veterans.

“This was a much-needed refreshing of our prior website,” stated Laura Black, Chief Marketing Officer for Stop Soldier Suicide. “We needed our website to work harder for the people reaching out to us, making getting help easier and also offering education to those seeking more information about this growing military suicide epidemic in our country.”

The site features research and information regarding the problem of suicide among those who have served, and the far-reaching impact it has on families and loved ones. It offers valuable resources to those seeking help, including links to partner organizations such as The Veterans’ Administration, The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and the volunteer organization Give an Hour. Soldiers and veterans can access a page with a form for getting help, while friends and family can access a “Get Help for a Loved One” section that includes information on how to help a veteran or soldier in need.

Stop Soldier Suicide (SSS) was founded in 2010 by three veterans who were determined to help curb the epidemic rate of suicide among their fellow service members. Among veterans, the suicide rate is double and sometimes triple the rate of civilians. On average, 22 veterans and 1 active duty soldier take their own life every day. Even more troubling, these statistics are based on only 22 states reporting. Many veterans turn to suicide because they feel they have no alternative to stop their pain and suffering. Forty percent of the veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan fall victim to Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), so SSS recognizes that the need is urgent.

Red Letter Marketing teamed with Laura Black, Chief Marketing Officer of Stop Soldier Suicide and president of Black House Creative, to develop the site.  Kelly Gomez, President of Red Letter Marketing, stated, “We’re honored to have worked on this project. It’s a privilege to serve a group that deserves so much gratitude.”
