"In August, 2014 a new community ballet and performing arts program, Edge Performing Arts, will open in Winston-Salem, NC in a new premier 9,000 square foot facility. The program includes a world-renowned staff including Christine Spizzo, Sam Shapiro, Kevin Cosculluela, Sara Havener, Allie Parsons, Sam Jones, and Drew Davis – who have between them such expertise as: performing with Mikhail Baryshnikov, being quoted as one of the foremost experts in pointe in the country, performing and dancing with American Ballet Theatre, The Royal New Zealand Ballet, performing in the New York Radio City Music Hall “Nutcracker”, training and performing with the Joffrey Ballet, and more!
The program is designed for dancers in grades 2-12, and will focus on a diverse training program for those interested in in dance with a concentration in ballet. Offering a well-rounded approach to dance training for dancers is the heart of the program. Auditions for the program will be held July 26th (early audition) and August 23rd, 2014.
Edge Performing Arts was developed over years of planning to develop the right schedule and technical merit. Its founders have a proven track history and have trained dancers to go on to Alvin Ailey, The Julliard School, The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Joffrey, and to work commercially in Los Angeles and New York. Dancers from all backgrounds, studios, and interests are welcome, and the program will offer one, two and three-day options to fit dancer’s schedules.
The program will host an Open House and Audition August 23rd, classes will begin in September. Pre-registration is suggested.
