GREENSBORO, NC (July 23, 2014) – City of Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller, who announced his plans to retire from the City of Greensboro in early July, has accepted the police chief position in Greenville, SC. The City is anticipating appointing an interim chief in the near future to take the lead role in the police department.
Miller’s last day with the department is expected to be August 31, 2014. He had indicated to the City that he intended to vacate the chief’s position between September 1 and December 31, 2014.
Moving forward, the City has already initiated the hiring of a consultant to guide the selection for a new police chief. The hiring process will be led by City Manager Jim Westmoreland and his staff.
Miller joined the Greensboro Police Department in 2010 after serving as deputy chief for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for four years. Before joining Greensboro, Miller worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg police for 21 years (1989-2010) and was an auxiliary deputy sheriff in Greeneville, Tennessee for two years. He also served as a security police sergeant in the United States Air Force.
