"Greensboro, NC- On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, comedian, author and women’s health advocate Lizz Winstead will be the keynote speaker at the 7th annual Health Heroes Recognition Dinner. The event, created and hosted by The Greensboro Friends of Planned Parenthood, recognizes and honors exceptional individuals in our community who advocate for, and create lasting change surrounding women’s health. This year, the event will honor dedicated medical professionals Dr. Margaret Bertrand and Dr. Bobby Doolittle. The dinner will be held at the Greensboro Sheraton Four Seasons at 6:00 PM.

Lizz Winstead is the co-creator and former head writer of The Daily Show and Air America Radio co-founder; her work changed the very landscape of how people get their news. Winstead has appeared numerous times on Melissa Harris-Perry's MSNBC show and has written for and been recognized by all major media outlets.

Dr. Bertrand has consistently been on the leading edge of integrating the latest technology in breast cancer detection. In Greensboro she pioneered the use of stereotactic-guided needle biopsies and other minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Doolittle has spent the majority of his career focused on adolescent health care, creating and implementing curriculum for school based health clinics at Guilford County middle and high schools as well as serving as the Director of Student Health Services at UNC Greensboro. Currently, Dr. Doolittle works in the Cone Health Adolescent Medicine Clinic.

“Planned Parenthood is thrilled to recognize these leaders in our community for standing up for reproductive health care for women over the decades,” said Easton Rice, Regional Lead Clinician.
