Comedienne’s ‘So Gay’ Tour to visit Greensboro, NC

Comedian, writer, podcaster, and talk show host Sara Benincasa will be performing live at Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema at 8 p.m. Monday, October 13.

Benincasa is an award-winning comedian and author of the books “Great” and "Agorafabulous!: Dispatches From My Bedroom" from William Morrow publishing house (a division of HarperCollins), the latter of which is based on her critically acclaimed solo show about panic attacks and agoraphobia. She recently wrote comic books for Marvel including "Shame Itself" and "Now What." Benincasa is currently working on her third book, "Believers," due out from HarperTeen in summer 2015. Inspired by "Lord of the Flies," it's about a group of evangelical Christian teen girls from Texas who crash-land on a deserted island.

Benincasa is also an online columnist for Playboy Magazine. As part of her crowd-funded tour entitled "This Tour is So Gay!," Benincasa will perform in Greensboro to help raise both money and awareness for #GetEngagedNCYouth -- the youth program of Equality NC! She will tell stories about sex, love, mental health, awkward adolescence and other scandalous topics. She will conclude her performance with a hilarious

The performance is recommended for audiences ages 15 and up. Opening acts include Joanne Spataro and Ben Church. Spataro is a web series host, story curator and writer from Charlotte. Spataro is the host of "Pillow Talk with Joanne," featuring Spataro on a fluffy pink bed on the streets of Charlotte ot do interviews with local personalities, politicians and regular people. Church is the director of Community Engagement for Equality NC, North Carolina’s statewide LGBT advocacy organization.
