Middle College at GTCC-Greensboro Ranked as Top High School School Ranked in Newsweek’s Top High Schools

"The Middle College at GTCC Greensboro made Newsweek’s list of Top High Schools in the country. The school ranked #259 on the overall list and #70 in the list of Top Schools for Low Income Students.

It was one of six North Carolina schools recognized on the general list and one of 12 on the alternate list.

Newsweek ranks schools on how well they prepare students for college, and recognizes them for performing better than statistically expected for their level of poverty. The rankings are based, in part, on enrollment rate, graduation rate, weighted AP/IB composite, weighted SAT/ACT composite, holding power (change in enrollment between ninth and 12th grades) and counselor-to-student ratio.

“We believe world changers, our students, who experience poverty have big goals,” says Rodney Boone, principal at The Middle College at GTCC-Greensboro. “Therefore we have high expectations. We are excited about the task to serve them, and we thank them for choosing us.”

The Middle College at GTCC Greensboro was also recognized for low-income students scoring at or above average on state assessments and narrowing the achievement gap.
