Twist On Traditional Career Fair Offers Opportunities for Job seekers and Entrepreneurs

"On December 5, 2014, anyone in the Triad looking for a new job or looking to start or grow a business can attend the Triad Career and Business
Opportunity Fair that will be held at the Greensboro Airport Marriott located at 1 Marriott Way. The fair will take place from 10 a.m. until at 2 p.m.

At the fair, job seekers and entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to
meet representatives from Fortune 500 companies such as State Farm
Insurance and Allstate. While both State Farm and Allstate are insurance
companies and both companies will be looking for people with an
entrepreneurial spirit,  State Farm will have jobs for people looking to
run an insurance agency and Allstate will offer opportunities for people
looking to own an insurance agency.

The innovative idea of combining a job fair with a fair for entrepreneurs
was the brainchild of Angela Jones, who is the publisher of the Hampton Roads Messenger, a monthly newspaper distributed in Virginia. When asked why she thought adding a business opportunity component to a career fair would work, Jones offered: “We realized some time ago that there are individuals who may be unemployed but could create an employment opportunity for themselves as well as others with a little direction from some of the agencies that exist to offer such guidance. Once we get people who are unemployed in a room with representatives from organizations such as the Small Business Administration (SBA) or SBA lenders, amazing things begin to happen--big ideas begin to flow and the problem of unemployment is solved through entrepreneurship.”

Some of the other industries that will be represented at the fair include
Health Care and Transportation. While numerous companies throughout the
Triad are looking to hire certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and
registered nurses (RNs), organizations such as Novant Health will be at
the fair to hire for both position as well as a plethora of other
positions. Novant Health has openings in Information Technology and
Marketing too. Individuals with a background in finance may also find a
position suited for them by visiting the Novant Health booth.

This job fair is not just for subject matter experts. For example, in the
transportation sector, companies like EPES Transport Systems have full and
part-time opportunities for people with varying levels of experience from
interns to diesel technicians to operations managers. The transportation
company also has openings in Greensboro for a receiving gate clerk, a
driver recruiter and a recruiting safety processor.

The Triad Career and Business Opportunity Fair will provide access
to an opportunity for anyone who attends. The organizers have had many
years to get the concept right. Messenger Media has been sponsoring career

fairs throughout the southeastern portion of the United States since 2008. For more details about the Triad Career and Business Opportunity Fair, which is free and open to the public, or to register to attend, visit triadjobs.eventbrite.com or call 336-701-2404."
