Juveniles caught throwing objects at cars from bridge

"Winston-Salem Police Officer's were dispatched to S. Main Street over I-40 in reference to a security check involving subjects possibly throwing objects from the bridge. Officers responded Feb. 8 at 11:07 am to the area and located two male juveniles, 15 and 14, walking along the bridge with large sticks in their hands. While offers were speaking to the suspects, the victim Joshua Gimlin, 270 Weisner Street, arrived on the scene. He advised officers that he was heading East on I-40 in the far right lane when an unknown object struck the roof of his vehicle. Upon stopping his vehicle and noticing the damage, he responded immediately to this location in an attempt to locate those responsible.

One of the juveniles’ admitted to targeting the vehicles below and striking the victim's vehicle with a bottle. They were preparing to throw the large sticks when encountered by Police personnel.

The reporting citizen (not the victim) witness also responded back to the scene.  Both subjects were positively identified as those he originally observed standing atop the bridge.

The odor of marijuana was detected about their persons and one of the juveniles’ was found to be in possession of marijuana.
Both subjects were released to their parents and petitions will be sought for the above listed offenses.
