Young and the Officers became involved in a physical altercation, which resulted in Young assaulting both officers with his hands and then physically resisting arrest.  Young was able to enter his vehicle (1997, GMC, K-1500, Sport Utility Vehicle) while continuing to struggle with Officer Thomas.   Young was eventually able to place the vehicle’s transmission in drive and accelerate from the scene.  Officer Thomas was partially inside of the vehicle struggling with Young as he sped away.  The vehicle dragged Officer Thomas down the roadway for a short distance before Officer Thomas was able to free himself from the vehicle moments later.

Officers spotted Young’s vehicle a short distance away and attempted to initiate a traffic-stop on the vehicle.  Young would not stop the vehicle for the officers and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.  The pursuit began in the area of Robinhood Road at Reynolda Road and came to a stop moments later at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard at North Hawthorne Road.  Young was then taken into custody without further incident.

There were no collisions or injuries that occurred during the vehicle pursuit.  The 200 block of North Hawthorne Road was closed for approximately 45 minutes while this investigation was conducted.
