GPD Website now Features a Cold Cases Homicide Page

"GREENSBORO, NC (July 17, 2015) – Think you might have the one piece of information that can help solve a cold case homicide? Or, maybe you just don’t know which cases are unsolved and in need of the public’s help in finding who was responsible for the crime.

The Greensboro Police Department now has a Cold Cases page that describes unsolved homicides from as early as 1969. More than 80 cases are awaiting the tip that can solve them.
A ‘cold case’ is defined as a criminal investigation of a serious nature where all leads have been exhausted and the case remains unsolved.

“It’s so important that we keep these unsolved cases in the public’s eye,” stated Detective  A.R. Hinson. “Homicide forever affects the lives of the people who knew and loved the victim. Unsolved cases can be extremely difficult for family, friends and the community.”

Greensboro police never close an unsolved homicide case. “We never give up,” stressed Hinson. “Someone knows something that can help solves these cases and a small degree of peace to the families of the victims.”

Frequently cases are solved because someone had the courage to come forward and provide a vital piece of evidence that was previously unknown to authorities. That one piece of information could be the missing piece needed to bring justice and closure to a grieving family.
