Friends of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation Awarded $25,000 Grant

"GREENSBORO, NC (August 6, 2015) – The Friends of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Foundation announces the receipt of a $25,000 grant from REI. As part of REI’s mission to care for and increase access to outdoor recreation places, the grant will be used to build a skills course and a pump track at Keeley Park. The pump track, a looping dirt track designed for bicycling without the use of pedals, will provide a unique recreational opportunity to increase physical fitness. Benefits of the track and skills course include cardio and muscle building, volunteer and mentoring opportunities, and developmental learning. The Foundation is also joining forces with the biking community in an online campaign to raise additional funds for the project to add site furnishings, signage, and other amenities.
