Durham-based cidery signs with
craft-dedicated distributor in NC markets
"Greensboro, NC—September 24, 2015—Craft Central, a craft-dedicated beer distributor based in central North Carolina, has begun distribution of Bull City Ciderworks craft ciders in Charlotte and the Triad. Bull City Ciderworks, founded in Durham, is an urban cidery handcrafting unique hard ciders using locally and regionally sourced ingredients.
As the Triangle’s first cider bar, Bull City Ciderworks redefined hard cider, proving that the increasingly popular beverage doesn’t have to be overly sweet or artificial tasting. The transformation begins with North Carolina apples while including a wide variety of ingredients from tea, honey and hops to ginger, strawberry and spruce tips. Off Main, Bull City’s flagship, is a semi-sweet cider that contains Stayman’s Winesap, Golden Delicious, Fuji, and Pink Lady apples. Honey-infused Sweet Carolina, black tea and honey-steeped Steep South, and dry-hopped Smooth Hoperator are among the additional ciders to be introduced in central North Carolina markets in the coming months.
“We’ve had the desire to bring a locally-made craft cider to our markets for several months, but wanted to make sure that brand shared our passion for North Carolina’s craft culture,” said Chris Caffey, President and CEO of Craft Central. “The craft drinkers within our markets are already eager to explore these unique offerings as Bull City makes their way into our region.”

The distribution agreement follows the announcement of Bull City’s plans to open a production facility in Lexington, allowing the company to distribute at a higher volume. Set to begin with 33,000 square feet of space, Bull City intends to grow into the entire 66,000 square foot building. Their headquarters will remain in Durham.
