"Winston
Salem, NC- Kevin Pyles, Spokesperson
for American Martial Arts Academy, Inc,
confirmed today that Paulo Santana won the Atlanta Winter International Open
IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the adult, light feather weight, black belt
division on Saturday February 6, 2016. “Our mission is to bring world class
instruction and passion for Jiu-Jitsu to allow people to pursue their goals
whether it be to become a world class competitor or to learn self-defense and
get in shape,” says Lepri. Due to its practical application and
proven success in sports such as MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has become one of the
fastest growing martial arts in the United States.
“We
believe jiu-jitsu is more than just a sport, self-defense system, or fitness
program; it’s a lifestyle that improves the whole person,” says Pyles. American Martial Arts Academy first opened
its doors in 1998 as one of the first Gracie Jiu-Jitsu training facilities in
the state. “Being directly affiliated
with Lucas Lepri, who is one of the most decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jiu athletes
in the world today, has been an unbelievable experience and gives us access to
the most current and relevant techniques available,” says Lonnie Price, General
Manager of American Martial Arts Academy.
To have a local athlete right here in Winston Salem that can compete and
win in an international competition like this is incredible, says Pyles.
American
Martial Arts Academy offers world class training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu six
days per week and up to three classes per day.
