Brenda P. Schleunes, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Touring Theatre of North Carolina announced today the production of Dr. Claribel, Miss Etta and the Brothers Cone.

Glimpses into the lively relationships between sisters and brothers

"The story of Dr. Claribel and Miss Etta Cone is also a story of the Cone brothers.    The sisters' cultivation of artists and literary bohemians such as Matisse, and Gertrude and Leo Stein, along with their collection of art and objects has been examined in numerous biographies and art exhibitions.  So too has the legendary business acumen of the Cone brothers.  Now, in a brand-new original production based on archival material, Touring Theatre of North Carolina shines a light on the relationships between the idiosyncratic sisters and their ten brothers in the context of the twentieth century progress; it is the story of how family and history intertwine to shape each other.
The Touring Theatre of North Carolina is the longest running professional theatre company in the Triad.  It is dedicated to providing unique and effective learning experiences through professional theatre.  Its innovative spirit generates a rich and diverse repertoire of productions based on literature and historical documents, with each telling stories of ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.  The repertoire calls attention to issues involving traditions, class, ethnicity, culture and gender.  All productions, created with the highest professional standards, are designed to promote conversations about community.
