"GREENSBORO- The Guilford College Department of Theatre Studies continues it 2014-2015 season with “The House of York,” adapted from Shakespeare with additional materials compiled by Royston Coppenger. Performances are April 22-25 at 7:30 pm and April 26 at 2 pm in Sternberger Auditorium, located in Founders Hall. Tickets are available online at www.guilford.edu/theatre. A free preview performance on April 21 at 7:30 pm is open to Guilford College students with student ID.
This dramatization uses the words of Shakespeare, other Elizabethan playwrights and period voices from documents, diaries, and letters to tell the gripping story of the Wars of the Roses and the rise and fall of the dynasty that ended with the bloody reign of King Richard III.
Guilford College’s production is directed by David Hammond, Chair and Professor of Theatre Studies. Scenic and costume design is by Robin Vest, Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies. Lighting design is by guest artist Jesse Belsky and sound design is by guest artist Justin Schmitz.
All tickets are $5.00.
