Greensboro police Officer Robert Reyes has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a malicious gossip investigation, according to a knowledgeable source who spoke on condition of anonymity. Reyes is still getting paid, but has had his gun and badge taken away. Reyes was notified of the decision yesterday.
Reyes is one of the officers who has filed grievances against the department in recent months. Three others — Capt. Charles Cherry, Officer AJ Blake and Officer Joseph Pryor — have recently been suspended without pay and recommended for termination. Reyes, unlike the other three, is not a plaintiff on a federal discrimination lawsuit.
UPDATE: Interim Chief Dwight Crotts confirms that Reyes' status has been changed to administrative leave.
