While watching the election returns come in late last night, I made a huge error of fact in my story on Amendment 1, the Marriage Amendment that passed by a wide margin.
I wrote, "Guilford County voted against it by the slimmest of margins — of almost 117,000 votes, just 68 separated the nays from the yeas."
In actuality, Guilford County voted FOR the amendment, and the final tally showed a 72-point difference.
In my defense, I had just got back to work after some time off. And I am also a complete moron.
The web version of the story has been fixed. Expect a correction in next week's paper.
