OCTOBER 25, 2014 – LEANNE PIZIO’S FALL “KEEP IT LOCAL” SHOW

"(Greensboro, NC) – The Twice-Annual “Keep It Local” Art Show continues into its 16th year at Leanne Pizio’s Stealing Crow Farm in Oak Ridge, NC.  This year’s Fall Show is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th from 10am – 4pm at 2409 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC.  The Rain Date is Sunday, October 26th at the same time and location.

This year’s Keep It Local show is focusing on over 20 local visual artists in a variety of media in an exciting, festival-style setting supporting the “Buy Local” philosophy.

Founder, organizer and regional potter Leanne Pizio highlights, “We’ve been doing this show for a while now and we work to bring in different and new artists who work in all different art mediums.  This show will have artists who specialize in pottery, jewelry, painting, pen and ink prints, wood, glass, metal, fabric, fiber and multi-media so the entire art world is represented.  More importantly, the artists are local and by hosting the show twice a year, we’re supporting both them and the local residents who come to the show.”

The Keep It Local Show’s philosophy is to support local artists in whom buyers will buy their local artwork.  The artists in turn invest back into our local community by buying supplies, paying their bills and supporting other local businesses.  It is a Local Investment Circle and keeps all the money spent in our local community..

To continue the local support theme, Keep It Local offers visitors another way to give back to the community by participating in its Art Hunt.  Similar to the traditional Easter Egg Hunt, the Art Hunt (11am-until all the art is gone), asks participants for either 6 canned goods or $5 to find small pieces of artwork provided by the showcased artists within a designated area.  The Fall Keep it Local event’s proceeds will support the Servant Center of Greensboro; to learn about their mission: http://www.theservantcenter.org/.

The Stealing Crow Farm began in 2008 by regional potter Leanne Pizio.  Leanne’s studio includes a gallery space, kiln room and working studio space in a converted barn behind her home in Oak Ridge.  Her work is collected and exhibited throughout North Carolina and the country.  Leanne is known for her original sgrafitto work: hand-carved black on white, wood-cut style of pottery.
