"Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded, Nov. 6 at 7:44pm, to a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound, near the residence
located at 129 East Drive. It was
determined that this incident occurred as a result of an Armed Robbery of the
victim’s moped. The victim is Keith Donnell Gaither, 59, male.
The suspect approached the victim (Mr. Gaither) and began attempting
to steal his moped. The victim attempted
to intervene in the theft when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the
victim. The suspect then fled the area
on the stolen moped and has not yet been located.
Suspect was wearing dark colored clothing and
possessed an unknown type handgun. He was described as a black male between the ages of 18-22.
The victim was transported to WFU Medical Center where he is
being treated for non life-threatening injuries.
