Calling all nonprofits and companies to Walk, Run, or Roll for your favorite charity! The Volunteer Center opens nonprofit and company team registration for 2015 Human Race 5K community fundraiser

"Greensboro, NC— The Volunteer Center (TVC) has opened nonprofit and company team registration for the 2015 Human Race, scheduled for April 18th, 2015 at The Greensboro Coliseum.  Since 1994, The Volunteer Center has managed the event, helping to raise over $4.2 million for local nonprofits as participants walk, run or roll for their favorite charity!

The Human Race allows 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations to form teams and fundraise for themselves. The Volunteer Center plans, coordinates and manages the event so each nonprofit can focus on fundraising. About 100 nonprofits participate each year. Many say it’s their largest fundraiser of the year and they do not have the capacity to manage an event themselves. Sharon Grey, Executive Director of Animal Rescue and Foster Program says: “The Human Race is not only important to the participating nonprofits like ours, but also to our community. There is no other event in this area that invites all nonprofits to participate in raising funds for their cause.”

Companies, small businesses and corporations participate in The Human Race. Many companies form teams and allow their employees to support their favorite nonprofit. The Human Race is a great way to team build and show community support, all while allowing each individual to find their passion.

Other clubs and groups that are not 501(c) 3 nonprofits can also form teams to fundraise for their charity of choice, including high school and college clubs.

The Volunteer Center verifies nonprofit eligibility, offers fundraising trainings, provides marketing materials and handles all event coordination. To learn more or to register your nonprofit, company or other group, visit www.volunteergso.org or email Erin Kennedy at erin@volunteergso.org.

The event, held on Saturday, April 18th at The Greensboro Coliseum also includes a 5K run as part of the Greensboro Race Series, a 5K walk, and an after party with free food, live music, awards ceremony and children’s activities."
