Two Guilford County Teens Received Student Improvement Award

"GREENSBORO, NC (January 12, 2015) – Miguel Pureco, a sophomore at the Dean Pruette SCALE School, and Ryan Coleman-Ibarra, a sophomore at Northeast Guilford High School, received the Student Improvement Award (SIA) at a luncheon in their honor in November at the Starmount Country Club. The award is given to students who have improved in their academic performances or overcome obstacles in their personal lives. Pureco and Coleman-Ibarra are now eligible for the Student of the Year award.


The Student Improvement Award program is co-sponsored by the Summit Rotary Club and the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. School officials, coaches, teachers, counselors, therapists or volunteers who have regular contact with students and have observed their academic or personal improvements may nominate students.
